Music Theory Preparation ABRSM 1 to 5: ABRSM Music theory
grade 1-5 is a great opportunity to prepare for the exams or just for yourself.
Everyone can progress at his own pace in relaxed and supportive atmosphere. The
group is mixed level. There will be additional online resources provided.
Piano Starters & Progression: Work on music of
approximately Grade 1 standard with music appreciation and optional basic
theory. This course offers a good introduction to piano playing and is
also suitable for those who wish to improve on existing skills. You will be able
to work at your own pace in a relaxed atmosphere. This course can be joined face
to face or online.
The Singer's Workshop: In this course you will learn vocal
techniques and performance skills exploring various singing styles. You will be
working on the Jazz/Blues/Pop/Rock/Soul repertoire. Learn healthy vocal
technique and listening skills. Gain confidence and 'know how' to sing solo in a
supportive class environment. Develop a realistic understanding of the level of
work and commitment needed in order to progress as a singer and performer. Enjoy
making progress with your solo singing and group harmony singing skills. This
workshop is for singers of all levels that share a passion for singing.
Acoustic Guitar Beginners 1: Suitable for complete beginners
with no previous playing experience. This course teaches you the basic
techniques to play open chords and simple melodies, including strumming and
finger picking. Repertoire styles include Blues, Pop and Classic Rock.
Acoustic Guitar Beginners 2: This course is a continuation
from Acoustic Guitar Beginners 1. Suitable for players with a term's experience,
ideally having completed Acoustic Guitar Beginners 1. This course teaches you
further open chords, simple melodies, strumming (fingers & plectrum) and
clasp picking. Repertoire styles include Soul, Grunge Rock and American
Folk.
Acoustic Guitar Beginners 3: This course is a continuation
from Acoustic Guitar Beginners 2. Suitable for players with two terms'
experience, ideally having completed Acoustic Guitar Beginners 1 & 2. This
course teaches you further open chords, riffs, syncopated strumming (plectrum)
and arpeggiated finger picking. Repertoire styles include Pop Rock, Rock
’n’ Roll and swing.
Acoustic Guitar Improvers 1: The course focuses on
developing three specific areas: strumming/rhythm skills, plectrum skills &
finger picking. The musical repertoire/songs are arranged to develop each of the
three specific skills. Suitable for those with over a year's playing
experience who have ideally attended Acoustic Guitar Beginners Guitar 3.
Acoustic Guitar Improvers 2: This course is a continuation
from Acoustic Guitar Improvers 1. The course focuses on developing three
specific areas: strumming/rhythm skills, plectrum skills & finger picking.
The musical repertoire/songs are arranged to develop each of the three specific
skills. Suitable for those with over a year's playing experience who have
ideally attended Acoustic Guitar Improvers 1.
Acoustic Guitar Improvers 3: This course is a continuation
from Acoustic Guitar Improvers 2. The course focuses on developing three
specific areas: strumming/rhythm skills, plectrum skills & finger picking.

skills. Suitable for those with over a year's playing experience who have
ideally attended Acoustic Guitar Improvers 2.
Drama Club: This course aims to produce a final show to be
presented at the College to a small audience. It’s tailored for learners who
want to have an experience of rehearsing and presenting a show. The first half
of the class is focused on drama games and the second on the show to be
produced.
Speaking in Public: This course is tailored for learners who
want to gain confidence to speak in public or to express their ideas to others.
Through drama, role-playing, and movement games, the learner will have space to
exercise and improve their social skills.
Tap Dance Beginners: An ideal course for anyone who wants to
learn to tap or revisit a previous hobby. We will learn the basic steps and put
them together to create a dance. A fun and creative way to dance, exercise and
make new friends. Mixed group.
Tap Dance Improvers: These course requires some practice in
Tap Dance and will amalgamate different steps and sequences to develop tap dance
and performance skills. Influenced by well known tap dances from different
decades. Mixed group.
2 Time Steps & Beyond - Mix Tap: Building on the skills
learnt in term 1, these sessions will cover a variety of timesteps, cramp rolls
and travelling steps including pickups, putting them together to form a dance
routine. Mixed group.
