Bursary Funds: Application Form

A couple of things to note and have handy before starting your application:

Depending on your circumstances, we will need you to upload relevant evidence - please have this ready before beginning this application.

  • If you are 19+, we will need evidence of your income.
  • If you are aged 16-18 and living with parents/guardians , we will need evidence of their annual household income.
  • If you are applying for childcare support we will need a letter from the childcare provider stating how much the fees are for the days you attend with us.

Evidence should be dated within 3 months of your application. Your application cannot be assessed until all evidence has been submitted.

Funding cannot be granted on the basis of income related evidence alone. There must also be proof of hardship; this means you must tell us why without financial support you may be unable to complete and succeed on your course. *

Your evidence should be dated within 3 months of your application.

What do I need to upload?

To evidence your household income you must upload evidence for all types of income that apply

This should include the total income for all adults that live in your household. Household income can be from full time work, part time work, self-employment, benefits, pension, or a combination of these. You will need to provide evidence of your household income

  • I understand that if I provide false information, or fail to provide the necessary supporting evidence, my application will not proceed and Southend Adult Community College may reclaim any funding already allocated to me.
  • I understand that making an application does not guarantee I will be awarded any funding.
  • If awarded, I understand that payments will not start until I am enrolled and my attendance is confirmed.
  • I understand that any funding awarded will be subject to maintaining high levels of attendance, punctuality, behavior, and a commitment to course work.
  • I understand that this application only applies to one academic year and that I will need to reapply if I require financial assistance with study for further years.
  • I understand that if I withdraw from my course I may have to pay back all or some of the monies awarded to me or paid on my behalf.
  • I understand that if my application for financial assistance is unsuccessful or successful in part, I will be liable for all outstanding fees related to my course(s) and it is my responsibility to pay these outstanding fees upon request.
  • Applications are only seen by staff involved in the delivery of these funds. Occasionally it may be necessary for additional supporting information to be sought from other college staff in order for a decision to be made. We only hold personal information relevant to your interest in the College, we will store the data securely and will only retain it for the duration required for the purpose of its capture or a statutory period as laid down by legislation or other formal obligation. We are unable to assess your application if it is incomplete or missing the relevant evidence, consequently, this will delay a decision.

Once all funds have been allocated, no further requests can be supported.

Students are advised that they can appeal to the Assistant Principal within ten-days of receipt of the letter notifying them of the decision if they are dissatisfied..





What happens next?

  • Your application will be assessed.
  • You will be notified of the decision by email
  • If you need to apply for additional financial support throughout the year please speak to a member of the Learner Experience Team.
