Course Description

Clothesmaking Entry: This course is suitable for learners with experience of using a sewing machine. The course will cover sewing skills such as, adding zips, collars, making button holes, seams and garment finishes. You will create a pattern for a simple skirt and learn how to follow it. You will be advised on fabric and trimmings and how to recycle vintage fabric and garments. Do not buy anything before the first class.


Clothesmaking Beginners: This course is for students who have experience using a sewing machine, and wish to do more pattern cutting and designing. You will complete your own projects, incorporating techniques that are more advanced, including more challenging patterns, such as coats, costumes, or vintage styles.


Clothesmaking Improvers: This course is for students that have experience using a sewing machine, and wish to do more pattern cutting and designing. You will complete your own projects incorporating techniques that are more advanced and more challenging patterns such as coats, costumes, or vintage styles.


Crochet - An Intro: If you had ever wanted to learn to crochet come to this course and you will learn the basics and with practice gain the skills to make small items.


Crochet Next Steps: If you know some crochet and would like to take your skills further, come to this informal and relaxed course where you are building on the skills you have learnt and gain confidence to start some bigger projects.


How to Make a Summer Dress: This course is for learners that wish to make a summer dress in one day. You will need to bring your own fabric and pattern and we will provide pattern paper and calico. Some patterns will also be available. This course is for learners with a basic understanding of sewing.


How to Make a Pair of Trousers: This course is for learners that wish to make a pair of trousers in one day. You will need to bring your own fabric and pattern and we will provide pattern paper and calico. Some patterns will also be available. This course is for learners with a basic understanding of sewing.


Pattern Cutting Basics: In this course you will make a skirt or trouser block and make a pattern and garment from your design. This course is for absolute beginners.

Pattern Cutting Improvers: In this course you will explore the next steps of pattern cutting.


Sewing Machine Skills Entry: This course is for beginners you will learn to use the various functions on a sewing machine. You will make a cushion or bag and learn how to put in a zip.  After this course you may wish to progress onto clothes making course.


Sewing Machine Sewing Skills/ Sewing Machine Skills: Learn how to use a sewing machine and an overlocker and explore the various functions and types of feet that can be used on these machines. Create individual projects, making cushions, simple garments or children's clothes. This course is suitable for those with some experience or a confident beginner.


Upcycling Your Wardrobe: In this course you will learn how to transform your own items of clothing into a different garment, saving you money and giving your favourite items a new lease of life, while caring for the planet and promoting sustainability. Please bring a few items to transform in the session.
