Ceramics Beginners: An introduction to handbuilding
techniques such as, coiling, pinch pots and slab building, plus throwing on the
potter's wheel. You will gain an understanding of the process of 'clay to
finished pot' and be able to decorate your own creations.
Ceramics Improvers: This course is a progression from the
beginners' course. You will develop your handbuilding techniques such as
coiling, pinch pots and slab building, plus throwing on the potter's
wheel. You will be able to design and build your own
creations.
Ceramics Developers: Make something for your home, friends or
family. You will learn techniques that are used on most of the methods of making
by being inspired by historical and contemporary ceramic practitioners. Some
experience is required.
Ceramic Christmas Decorations: Give your Christmas the
personal touch. Over the course of two weeks you will make, decorate and
personalise your very own decorations. Using a variety of decoration
techniques’ and mediums such as embossing, impressing, decorations slips,
underglaze colours and glazes.
Ceramics: Make a Teapot: This is one day course where you
will be shown how to build a slab made teapot. This course is suitable to all
levels. The tutor will go through each step with you, from demonstrating how to
roll out a slab of clay, add texture, to join clay to build your teapot and add
colour. At the end of the course your teapot will be bisque fired, glazed with a
transparent glaze and fired again. Once it has had its second firing it will be
ready for collection from reception.
Ceramics: Make a Jug: You will be shown how to make a simple
jug with slabs, slip decoration. At the end of the course your jug will be
bisque fired, glazed with a transparent glaze and fired again. Once it has
had its second firing it will be ready for collection from reception.
Ceramics: Make a Serving Bowl: In this course you will make
a serving bowl using a former. Your tutor will demonstrate how to roll out clay
and use the former to make your serving dish. You will then have time to design
the surface pattern/imagery to go onto your bowl, using the graffito technique
and coloured decorating slips on your dish. At the end of the course your
serving dish will be bisque fired, glazed with a transparent glaze and fired
again. Once it has had its second firing it will be ready for collection
from reception.
Ceramics: Make 6 Mugs: This is one day course where you will
be shown how to make 6 mugs. This course is suitable to all levels. The tutor
will go through each step with you, from demonstrating how to roll out a slab of

the course your mugs will be bisque fired, glazed with a transparent glaze and
fired again. Once it has had its second firing it will be ready for collection

Ceramics: Make a Cake Plate: In this course you will make a
cake plate. Your tutor will demonstrate how to roll out clay. You will then have
time to design the surface pattern/imagery to go onto your plate, using the
graffito technique and coloured decorating slips on your dish. At the end of the
course your plate will be bisque fired, glazed with a transparent glaze and
fired again. Once it has had its second firing it will be ready for
collection from reception.
Ceramics Studio Time: Studio time with a technician.
Ceramics: Throwing Taster Day: This short course will be
tailored around 4 students, and will on using the wheel to throw and create in
clay. This course is designed to give specific advice to the individual
who wishes to perfect a skill or have a go for the first
time.
